Kortex Terms of Service
Effective: September 4, 2026 · Last updated: September 4, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Kortex, the QR code and smart link service ("Service") operated by Kaayko ("we", "us", "our"). By making a link, entering an access code, or signing in, you agree to these Terms.
1. What the Service is
Kortex makes QR codes and short links, routes visitors by device and time of day, records scans, and provides the related dashboard, exports and API. It is offered as a free tier that needs no account, and as paid plans with sign-in.
2. The free tier and your access code
- The free tier needs no account. When you make your first dynamic link you receive a one-time access code. It is shown once and is the only key to that workspace's links, settings and scans.
- We store only a salted hash of the code. We cannot recover or re-send a lost code unless you attached an email address to the workspace and email delivery is available. A lost code cannot be reset by us.
- Anyone who holds the code can change where your links point. Keep it private and away from anything you print.
- A free workspace stays live for 365 days from its last use with the code. After that its links stop forwarding until the code is used again, which restores them; nothing is deleted by expiry.
- Static QR codes are drawn in your browser and store nothing with us; they carry no code, no dashboard and no scan counts.
- The sample workspace on the Kortex page is read-only demonstration data pointing at Kaayko's own products.
3. Plans, limits and pricing
- Free: $0. Unlimited static QR codes, 25 dynamic links, scan detail for the last 7 days with lifetime totals, iPhone and Android routing, night and day routing, scan caps and end dates, campaign tags, CSV export. A brief “Powered by Kortex” page before the redirect. Help within 3 business days.
- Pro: $29 per month. 500 dynamic links, 25 campaigns, 30 days of scan detail per link and a year of daily totals, no Kortex page before the redirect, API keys and signed webhooks, sign-in for your team. Help within 1 business day.
- Business: $99 per month. 2,500 dynamic links, unlimited campaigns, everything in Pro, five times the API quota, onboarding with a person. Help within 4 hours.
- Enterprise: custom terms, including custom domains and white-label pages.
Paid plans are set up on request and billed monthly through Stripe once billing is enabled for your workspace. You may cancel at any time; downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. When a plan limit is reached, further creation is blocked until you upgrade or reduce usage; we do not delete content when limits are reached.
4. Safety, review and reports
- Every destination is checked when a link is made and when it is edited, and live links are re-checked on a schedule. Destinations that point at private networks, known malware or phishing hosts, or our blocklist are refused.
- A link can be held for review (visitors see a neutral review page) or blocked (visitors see a 410 page). Holds are released only by a reviewer.
- Anyone can report a link at kaayko.com/kortex/report. Three independent reports of phishing, malware or a scam pause a free link for review. Owners can request a review at kaayko.com/kortex/appeal. A person reads every report and every appeal.
- We may switch off an entire workspace when it is used for abuse. Every one of its links then stops forwarding.
5. Data we keep, and for how long
- For each scan we keep the time, device type, operating system, browser, country, referrer, campaign tags and the address we forwarded to. Visitor IP addresses are hashed with a secret key and are never stored raw.
- Dashboards and exports show scan detail for the window your plan allows (7 days on the free tier, 30 on paid plans); lifetime totals stay on the link, and paid plans also keep a year of daily totals (counts only). Every scan record is deleted 30 days after the scan by a database-level expiry. Answers to a code's question keep no name and expire 400 days after they are given. You can export a workspace, delete a link, or delete the whole workspace yourself from the page at any time.
- Emails you attach are stored as a salted hash plus the address itself for delivery. Reports and support requests keep the email you give us so we can reply. Email delivery is not switched on yet: until it is, the page does not offer email features, and nothing that carries an access code is ever queued or logged.
- Every change to a link and every reviewer action is written to an audit log.
- You own the links and data you create. We do not sell your data. We may use anonymised, aggregated usage data to improve the Service.
6. Cancellation and churn (paid plans)
- After cancellation, your links keep forwarding for 30 calendar days, during which you can export everything.
- After the grace period, links redirect to a "no longer active" page. They are deactivated, not deleted, and short codes are not recycled for at least 12 months.
- Resubscribing within 90 days restores links and data. After 90 days we may permanently delete the workspace's data.
7. Multi-tenant isolation
- Each workspace's data is isolated. No workspace can view or change another's links, scans or settings. Free workspaces are identified only by their access code.
- Platform-operator access is restricted to Kaayko staff and is logged.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to distribute malware, phishing or deceptive content; to send spam; to break any applicable law, including data protection law; to get around limits or safety checks with multiple workspaces or technical tricks; or to resell the Service without written agreement. Violation may result in immediate suspension of the link or the workspace.
9. API and webhooks (paid plans)
- API keys are confidential; you are responsible for activity under your keys. Rate limits are enforced and answer HTTP 429.
- Webhook delivery is best-effort with retries. We are not liable for deliveries missed because your endpoint was unreachable.
10. Where the Service runs
The Service and its data run on Google Cloud Platform in the us-central1 (Iowa, United States) region. Customers who need a specific data residency should contact us about Enterprise terms and a Data Processing Agreement.
11. Privacy and DPDP
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India). See section 5 for exactly what a scan records.
12. Intellectual property
The Kortex platform, code, design and brand are owned by Kaayko. The Kortex badge shown on free-tier redirects is part of the Service.
13. Limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kaayko is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms with 30 days' notice on the Kortex page, and by email where we hold an address. Material changes to pricing or the churn policy carry 60 days' notice.
15. Termination by us
We may suspend or end access immediately for acceptable-use violations, non-payment after a 14-day grace period, or legal requirement; otherwise with 30 days' notice.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are resolved in the courts of Nagpur, Maharashtra.
